Synergetic effects of graphene nanoplatelets/montmorillonite on their dispersion and mechanical properties of the epoxy?based nanocomposite: Modeling and experiments

The mechanical properties of nanocomposites are significantly affected by the dispersion nanofillers. In this study, synergetic effect hybrid fillers, including surfacemodified montmorillonite (MMT) nanoclay and graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) on quality characteristics epoxy-based was investigated. It manifested that incorporation GNPs-MMT into pure epoxy improves consequently, tensile flexural properties. maximum strength obtained for sample containing 0.15 wt% GNPs 1 MMT 19% 17.4% higher than neat epoxy, respectively. experimental analyses were followed Mori–Tanaka, Halpin–Tsai, two-parameter Weibull distribution methods to model behavior nanocomposites. modeling results as well microscopic analysis revealed variation toughening mechanisms from micro nano scale.
